Service Description: Public health services that promote health and prevent disease for area residents through all of life's stages

Rabies Control
- Provides information and investigates animal bites

Health Hazards - Works to prevent and reduce adverse health outcomes resulting from exposure to health hazards

Other health protection subjects covered include:
  • vaccine preventable diseases
  • control of infectious diseases
  • emergency planning
  • pandemic planning
  • vector borne diseases, such as Lyme disease and West Nile Virus
  • tuberculosis control
  • environmental health
  • compliance inspections of food premises
  • food-borne illness investigations
 
Food Safety - Conducts regulatory inspections of all retail, service and institutional food premises to assess compliance with Food Premises Regulation under the Health Protection and Promotion Act
 
Safe Water - Monitors community drinking water systems, public bathing beaches, splashpads, wading pools, public pools and hot tubs and provides information on water quality testing and potential health effects
 
Tobacco Enforcement - Enforces the Smoke-Free Ontario Act through inspections of enclosed workplaces, public places, schools and other places required to be tobacco and cannabis smoke-free and vape-free
