Service Description: Counselling support for youth who are concerned about their own or someone else’s substance use. Counsellors work directly with youth and their families at various high schools and office settings throughout Grey Bruce

Programs offered:
  • counselling for youth
  • assessment & referral
  • counselling for parents/caregivers 
  • education and clinical consultation
  • connection and collaboration with other support services as needed 

Outreach services to high schools in Owen Sound, Chesley, Flesherton, Hanover, Kincardine, Lion's Head, Meaford, Port Elgin, Walkerton and Wiarton * appointments can also be made at Owen Sound site or Hanover site at 425 10th St, Unit 8

Application: Self or service provider referral * appointments are booked centrally through the Owen Sound office * Wait times can vary depending on a variety of factors (acuity of situation, number of referrals received, location and delivery format) * To get connected to the choices staff member nearest to your community, call our addictions team at 519-371-3642 ext 1100
Eligibility / Target Population: Youths, 20 years of age and under who:
  • are struggling with substance use issues or are concerned about someone else’s substance use
  • reside in the Grey Bruce area
  • willing to participate in program and engage with your counsellor
* Parents/ guardians who are impacted by substance use
Languages: English
Language Notes: Attempts will be made to provide service in other languages as requested

Choices offers assessment, counselling and referral to young people up to the age of 20 and/or family members about concerns related to substance use or concurrent disorders. Appointments are offered in Owen Sound and at Grey Bruce high schools.
